Learn to Love, Love to Learn
John 13:34 “I give you a new commandment; that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another.”
Underpinned by the core Christian value of love, Mereside C of E Primary Academy’s vision is to be at the heart of our community; supporting our children to aspire and flourish; becoming caring global citizens who celebrate and value diversity and are good neighbours to all.
Our curriculum offer is tailored to the specific needs of our pupils and around the shared vision of all stakeholders. It is based on the national curriculum but within subjects, golden threads run through that link to achieving our school vision and mission.

Curriculum Overview for 2022-2023- updated spring 2023
This term we have chosen to do a whole school Religious Education unit on the Big Frieze - this is an opportunity for us to learn about the chronology of the bible and also put into order some of the events from Jesus' life that we have been learning about. The RE units that will be impacted by this will be moved and covered later in the year. This change is not reflected in the whole school overview
ART curriculum
Due to moving to single age year groups from mixed age year groups, assessment and pupil voice have shown that some children have skills that they have not covered on the progression. For this reason, this version of art will be implemented in school this year. We aim to plug any gaps in skills and be ready for next academic year to follow the curriculum overview below
