Mereside CE primary is a medium sized school situated on the edge of Shrewsbury, the county town of Shropshire. The school has generous grounds and is adjacent to a large green space. At the heart of this area lies the mere which our school is named after. We are a local authority school although as a church school we are also supported and guided by the Lichfield Diocesan Board of Education. Our ethos is based on Christian values whilst remaining sensitive to the range of cultures that form our school community.

The school was opened in September 2009 after an amalgamation between Springfield Infant School and Holy Cross Church of England School and currently has 307 pupils aged 4 to 11 and 11 classes. Since the school opened there has been an ongoing process of refurbishment and building resulting in the light, spacious and well equipped school we now have.

The school’s facilities include 11 fully equipped class bases, a library, Learning Lounge, meeting rooms, sports hall and separate dining and assembly hall. In addition we have our own school kitchens providing hot dinners every day to our pupils and members of the wider community including the elderly.

We share our site with private providers of before and after school care for school age children and a day care nursery.

The beautiful tree lined grounds are very spacious with two hard surfaced play areas and large playing fields. There are also two adventure trails, a garden, a Wildlife area and a Forest school area used by the children in their studies

Please note that Mereside Church of England Primary School and grounds are a no-smoking area.
